The two day closure of I-405 through the Sepulveda Pass between the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles commonley referred to as Carmageddon makes a repeat appearance.
Metro explains what will happen to the 405 freeway over the weekend of Sept. 29-30, and how it’s basically the same exercise as in July a year ago. The freeway will close completely in both directions for the entire weekend. If Metro has planned it right, the Sepulveda Pass will be open to Monday morning commuters.
Here is the video:
The 2011 closure ended earlier than scheduled and went pretty well.
But, I will have to use Las Virgenes Road through Malibu to travel to Venice Beach on Saturday for Los Angeles Marathon Roadrunner training!
My advice: It is probably best to use I-5 through downtown Los Angeles and avoid the I-405 entirely.
